Jeordano Martínez has served as the Music Director of the Naperville Chorus since 1988 and is widely recognized for his varied programming and inspired performances. He has been on the music faculty of North Central College since 1986, and it was under his direction that the department began its explosive growth. Jeordano Martínez, was recently recognized by North Central College, See North Central Weekly site for his second Dissenger award. At the college he conducts the Concert Choir and Opera Workshop and teaches courses in music history and literature. He has just finished conducting a run of Piratas of Penzance at the college and will be conducting Sacred Music of the Millenium next month as part of Napervilles upcoming Celebration 2000.
Professor Martínez is a graduate of Baylor University, Southern Illinois University, and has just completed his course work toward a doctorate at Northern Illinois University. He has studied with famed Metropolitan star Marjorie Lawrence, conductors Irwin Hoffmann, Donald Moses, and the late Margaret Hillis, whom he assisted during her tenure with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra. Martínez has conducted performances at the Woodstock Opera House, The Rialto Theater in Joliet, and Hemmens Auditorium in Elgin. He is a former music director of the Liberty-Fremont Concert Society, Fox Valley Festival Chorus, Hinsdale Opera Chorus, and the Elgin Area Youth Orchestra. He has frequently been engaged as a choral adjudicator and clinician throughout the Midwestern states and in Canada. He can be contacted at musicdirector@napervillechorus.org
